Research On The Interpretation Methodology Of Vico's New Science

Vico's New Science is a study based on the common nature of each nation to study the world of human history.This thesis takes the interpretation method of New Science as the research object.Interpretation is the basic concept of Hermeneutics.From the etymology,the term "hermeneutics" comes from Hermes in ancient Greek mythology.Hermes,the messenger of God,is the intermediary between the language of God and the language of man.Therefore,”interpretation” is the transformation of meaning,which translates something expressed in an unfamiliar or incomprehensible way into an understandable language.As a study of human history,New Science is an interpretation of history.Because the meaning of history is not self-sufficient,it can only be produced in human interpretation activities.As a study of history,New Science necessarily transforms things expressed in unfamiliar ways into understandable languages,so it is an interpretation of historical meaning,and its method is interpretation.The Interpretation Methodology of New Science is a theoretical reflection on the interpretation of New Science.Specifically,the Interpretation Methodology of New Science is a reflection on the nature,purpose,and path of the interpretation of New Science.Therefore,this paper explores the Interpretation Methodology of New Science from the following four aspects:The first part is about the feasibility of interpreting history.Based on the principle of “truth is creation”,Vico believes that human history is created by human beings,so humans can understand the laws of history.Furthermore,Vico's interpretation of the imaginary reconstruction from the principle of "truth is creation",that is,the way and period of reconstruction of human creation,can understand its nature.The second part is about the basis of the interpretation of New Science: common sense.Vico's "common sense" is social and historical.Its methodological significance is based on this social historical connotation.It is the manifestation of the common nature of human beings in history and is a concrete universality.Therefore,on the basis of “common sense”,Vico interprets the common nature of human beings from the common sense,and raises the concrete empirical phenomenon from the common sense to the abstract theoretical truth.The third part is about the linguistic,historical and imaginative principles of the interpretation of New Science.The three principles that Vico's "interpretation" follows are based on the linguistic,historical,and imaginative nature of human creative activities.The fourth part of the interpretation of the "New Science" goal,its direct goal is the truth about the nature of human beings,the ultimate goal is the eternal truth from God.Vico understands human nature from human creations,and then through God's creation,man,knows the eternal universal objective truth of God.From the above,it is seen that Vico's "interpretation" is a tool for the subject to lead to the object.The way Veco grasps the human world still does not get rid of the binary opposition between the host and the guest.
