The Australian labor movement has a long history. As early as the beginning of the strike in the 1990 s,Australia had relatively adequate protection of workers' interests, and trade union organizations were gradually established. It can be said that before the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia,Australia had been famous for its reputation as “worker's paradise”.Even the Australians themselves said:c“ulturally speaking,Australia is a country of laborers. As long as workers shrug their shoulders, the maggots will fall off themselves.” It can be said that Australia has a deep foundation of the labor movement. However, although the early Australian labor movement made considerable achievements,it also hides many shortcomings. The method of struggle of the labor movement is single, and simple strikes can no longer pose too great a threat to capitalists. The labor movement is far away from politics.Although it is influenced by many advanced ideas such as European trade unionism, the corresponding political parties representing workers have not been established. The labor movement also has no systematic guiding ideology and doctrine.Different trade unions have different choices of means of struggle. They are often influenced by different ideas, such as trade unionism and radicalism. It is difficult to reach a consensus and the trade union organizations are not united. The economic crisis at the end of the 19 th century had a great impact on Australia. The economic downturn led to a serious decline in the actual treatment of workers.Large-scale labor movement have come up one after another, and the unions organized by various trade unions have also been set up,and the local trade unions whose main body is labor unions have begun to emerge in the political arena. The labor movement has gradually shifted from street movement to parliamentary politics. The period from the end of the 19 th century to the end of the First World War,when the Federal Labour Party, representing the labor group, was called the “golden age” of the Australian workers' movement.Over the past two decades,Australia has experienced several nationwide strikes,as well as the establishment and cabinet membership of the Labour Party.Although there were many obstacles in the Australian labor movement during this period, compared with other countries in the world in the same period, the movement went smoothly and achieved remarkable results, both in politics and legislation, and achieved great success. The first Labour Party government in history established a glorious model for the later labor movement and political reform. In addition, during this period, the labor movement began to link up with other political movements. For example,in the series of strikes at the end of the 19 th century, the Brokenhill Miners' strike was strongly supported by women's movement organizations. From the end of 19 th century to the end of World War I,the labor movement played a shaping role in the formation of the Australian nation-state.With the clue of the strike movement and the parliamentary struggle of the Labour Party,we can explore and analyze the contribution of the Australian workers' movement in the awakening of national consciousness, the implementation of democratic politics and the welfare guarantee system.During this period, the lack of the Australian labor movement can be explored and analyzed.Points and shortcomings can also be drawn from the analysis of historical data.
