Chopin created a total of four piano ballades all his life.Among them,the second ballade “Ballade No.2 in F major” possesses strong literary and lyrical elements,and contains two contrasting themes.This ballade reveals the enriched inner world of the composer.This thesis mainly studies Chopin’s “Ballade No.2 in F major” from four aspects.First of all,it analyzes the ballade’s melodic,harmonic and structural features,in an attempt to further clarify the skills which characterize the work during performance,through the interpretation of the musical score in its original creation by the composer.It also focuses on the in-depth analysis of the mixed musical forms of the work.Secondly,based on the author’s performance experience,this thesis analyzes the mastery of sound and the characteristics of performance techniques in the recreation of this work,solves the problems related to it in from the technical level,and makes a thorough analysis and conclusion of the performance characteristics,difficulties and techniques of the work.Starting from the aspects of period style,folk style and personal style,the thesis explains the performance style of the composition in the light of its period,historical and cultural background in order to fully display the characteristics of its style.In addition,through the analysis and review of various versions of the performance or recreation of this piece,best efforts are made to guarantee the selection of the correct performance version to the extent possible,forming a discourse on the characteristics of its performance,thus providing valuable reference for the performance practice of the work.
