Chang'an is the Buddhist center in the middle ancient times of China.There are many temples in Chang'an,which gather the great virtues of the country's eminent monks.Da'anguo Temple is a royal monastery built by Ruizhong Li Dan in his old house of Changle Fang in the first year of Jingyun(710).Its name comes from the old seal of Ruizhong Li Dan,"Anguo".As a royal temple,Da'anguo Temple bears some special political missions,which can be seen in the transition between Ruizhong and Xnanzong.In the middle and late Tang Dynasty,eunuchs managed the ten royal residences.TheDa'anguo Temple was next to the ten royal residences.During the year of Yuanhe,the merits of the eunuchs made it into the Dafanguo Temple.The Dafanguo Temple inevitably became a Place where the eunuchs controlled the ten royal residences at that time.With the development of Buddhism,as a public space,the social functions of monasteries are becoming more and more obvious.The.There are not only activities organized by the Royal family,but also activities organized by the monastery.The Tang Dynasty Esoteric Buddhism stone carvings unearthed at the site of Da'anguo Temple in Xi.an in the 1950s made the academic circles attach great importance to the study of Da'anguo Temple.Firstly,in the Buddhist theory of monks in Da'anguo Temple,we can find the spreading track of Esoteric Buddhism in Da'anguo Temple.Secondly,Dafanguo Temple,as a example,can be seen from its leading activities of Esoteric Buddhism,to see the attitude of rulers towards Esoteric Buddhism and the spread of Esoteric Buddhism in the niddle and late Tang Dynasty.In the Tang Dynasty,the temple construction was flourishing.Royal members participated in the construction of many royal temples.As a typical Royal monastery,Da'anguo Temple can give us a better understanding of the Royal monastery in Tang Dynasty by studying its development track and status.
