To enhance the collaborative innovation capability of Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication and the School of Nuclear Technology and Automation Engineering of Chengdu University of Technology(CDUT)in industrial design,2017 International Design Project was launched on August 28,2017 in CDUT.The author was honored to be invited to work as an interpreter for this project.With the guidance of Interpretive Theory of Paris Interpretative School,the report is written based on the author?s summary and analysis on this interpreting experience in the project.The author presents the report mainly from five aspects.Firstly,the author makes a brief introduction to the project,including project background,features and requirements of the interpreting task.Then the author describes his preparations for this interpreting such as theory basis,terminology collection,background information collection and onsite preparation.After that the author makes a detailed analysis of the difficulties and corresponding techniques in interpreting with typical examples.The author describes the difficulties from three perspectives,difficulty in attention splitting in interpreting without note-taking,difficulty in note-taking and difficulty in interpreting Chinese culture-loaded words.Besides,the author proposes three corresponding techniques to address the above difficulties.They are short-term memory technique,concise note-taking technique and paraphrasing technique.In the last,the author presents the assessment from clients and self-assessment and summarizes his advantages and shortages in the practice.In analysis of the interpreting practice,the author makes a conclusion that interpreting is dynamic so that when the interpreter encounters difficulties,he should take flexible corresponding techniques to resolve them immediately.By writing this report,the author aims to summarize his success and failure so as to improve his interpreting competence on the one hand.On the other hand,it is hoped that this report can be conducive to other interpreting learners in taking techniques to address difficulties.
