John Ronald Real Tolkien is known as "the Father of Modern Fantasy Literature".Among the 58 works he created,26 of them tell the story of the Middle-earth.In the Middle-earth,Tolkien often expresses his love and yearning of the primitive nature. He hates technology and machinery in industry civilization. This idea of aversion to technology and machinery is consistent with many views of Luddites.Taking Tolkien's three classic and high fantasy works("The Hobbit","The Lord of the Rings" and " The Silmarillion")as the research object, from the perspective of "Luddites”,we conduct in-depth research from the relationship between human beings and nature, technology and society, the essence and value of Tolkien's thought about Luddites.First of all,it elaborates that the technology leads to the alienation of the relationship between human beings and nature from four aspects:the humanized nature, the accomplicating animals, the fallen elves, the betrayed gods, which caused the natural destruction and turbulence;Secondly, through four aspects, calling pure natural humanity, seeking normative ethics, exploring rational realpolitiks, and avoiding painful war trauma to reveal the alienation of technology to human society; Finally,it discusses the essence of Tolkien's thought about Luddites, from the reasons for the formation of Tolkin's Luddites,Luddites-style life practice, and the enlightenment of the Middle-earth to the readers.Based on the in-depth analysis of the text,we can further understand the value and significance of the "Middle-earth" in the horizon of Luddites.
