There are many ancient temples in Shanxi Province,dating from the tang dynasty to the Ming and qing dynasties.Among them,the Ming temple murals are the most preserved,which can be called fine works with 2000 square meters.These beautifully painted murals constitute a magnificent chapter near the end of the history of ancient Chinese murals.Mingxiu temple is located in wangguo village,the southern suburb of taiyuan city,Shanxi Province.There are three intact murals in the nave of the temple.Mingxiu temple was built in the han dynasty and rebuilt in all dynasties.The central hall of the temple was built in jiajing year of the Ming dynasty.The painted sculptures and murals in the temple have been repaired for many times,but they still retain the characteristics of the time.Due to the large number of mural paintings at the temple of Ming and qing dynasties in shanxi,the research materials on mural paintings at the temple of Ming and xiu are almost blank.Mr.Chai zejun made a brief record of them in his book.There are more than 80 square meters of frescoes in the middle hall of mingxiu temple.After field investigation,the author judged that there are thousands of hands,thousands of eyes,avalokitesvara images,thousands of Buddha images,three bodies of Buddha,twenty-four heavens,infinite longevity and changes in the middle hall.The three walls retain complete inscription information,the inscription content for the merit of the credit name and its corresponding merit.Ming xiu temple murals painted for the Ming dynasty,no doubt,according to the Ming jiajing thirty-eight years "rebuild mingxiu temple notes" records,mingxiu temple in the 21 st year of jiajing experienced war and destruction,thus began the reconstruction activities.According to its mural board title,the author decides the building in hall of Mingxiu temple and mural have not been destroyed by this flames of war,its draw should be finished in the seventh year of the reign of emperor jiajing(1528)on the eighth month of the lunar calendar.Temple murals itself,in this paper,on the one hand,through the observation analysis contrast relevant buddhist sutra,and combining the relevant images to identify the temple murals in the theme content,on the other hand according to the record of inscriptional record,local Chronicles and the inside of the temple murals of inference in nature temple temple murals draw s for Ming jiajing seven years,and from the perspective of religious development,try to analyze the configuration of the combination of murals reflect the religious reasons.
