Public school is a very important part of British private education and a model for secondary education in the UK.In the course of more than 600 years of development it has gradually formed its own unique educational style and quality, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents.However,the development process of public school is not smooth sailing.From the mid-19th century to the beginning of the 20th century,in the development of society and its constant criticism,it conformed to the pulse of the times and finally ushered in its own glory through its own reform,era.During this period,it played an important role in the development of the entire public school.Therefore,it can be said that this is a watershed in the development of public school.At the same time,it has also had a profound impact on the British society.This paper is divided into four parts,the main contents of each part are as follows:The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the origin and significance of the topic,the current research status at home and abroad,the applied theory and research methods and the basic concepts.The second part mainly elaborates that on the eve of entering the mid-19th century,due to the changes of social factors such as the industrial revolution,the reform of the civil service system and the decline of family education,it provides favorable historical conditions and positive impetus for the coming of the reform of public schools and the brilliant era.By tracing back the development process of public schools,we can understand the reasons for the reform of public schools and the historical problems left over from the development of the times.The third part mainly introduces the development and change of public school system from the middle of 19th century to the beginning of 20th century.During this period,public schools gained legal status and complete independence,and the internal reform also guided the future development of public schools.It can be seen that the development of public schools in this period showed a vigorous trend,as well as the characteristics of both internal and external development.The fourth part:Exploring the influence of public school on the British education system,social structure and individual flat character and social atmosphere from the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.The development of public education in this period promoted the initial establishment of the dual system of education in the UK and changed the structure of students in colleges and universities.At the same time,the public school actively recruited middle class students during this period to expand the class mobility of the upper class.Its concern for colonial activities also promotes the consolidation of the British Empire.Moreover,the reform of public school has also enriched the content of the gentleman's character,which has gradually set off the atmosphere of public education in the whole society.Through the research on the development of public school in this period,it is not difficult to see that public school and society have formed a two-way communication that affects each other.
