With the development of globalization and the rising international status of China, Chinahas actively taken part in international affairs and activities. Interpreters act as the bridge ofinternational exchanges and communications, and the needs of interpreters are surging inrecent years. Interpreting is kind of utterance of oral statements which interprets the speakers’meaning into another language. In the interpreting process, two parties or more who speakdifferent languages have effective communication through the interpreter’s cognition oflinguistics and culture. Many scholars and interpreters have done research on interpreting and interpretingteaching in different fields and perspectives at home and abroad. Whether the communicationbetween speakers can be successful not only depends on interpreter’s linguistic abilities, butalso depends on the interpreter’s psychological quality, analysis abilities of cultural difference, and interpreting skills, etc. In particular, in the process of conference interpreting, informationis delivered in the form of speaking under high pressure. That’s to say, interpreters to someextent should have a good mastery of linguistic analysis abilities, emotional control, andpublic speaking abilities. Thus, it is very essential to do training of public speaking abilities.According to the present situation of interpreting teaching studies, the author comes upwith a mode of interpreting teaching, that is, training of keynote speeches on the basis oflinguistic cognition and psychology. The objective of this article is to improve theinterpreter’s expressive abilities and public speaking skills, and with the improvement ofpublic speaking skills, the interpreter can fully perform the speaker’s style and emotions. Themain body of this article generally can be divided into six parts, which includes introduction, main body (four chapters), and conclusion. The introduction introduces the public speaking abilities, the features and categories ofconference interpreting, and the association between public speaking and conference interpreting. Then the author indicates the significance of this research. This article takeslinguistic cognitive analysis and psychology as the theoretical basis, and training of keynotespeeches is employed into interpreting teaching to enhance the interpreter’s interpreting skills.Chapter one introduces theory of sense, cognitive processing, psychology, and linguistics, etc. This part involves the features of these theories and makes comments on theirdeficiencies. Besides, views offered by Bao Gang and Liu Hepingare discussed in this part.Chapter two discusses linguistic cognitive analysis and its training strategies in conferenceinterpreting. An excellent interpreter should have analysis abilities of speech types and logicalstructures. It lays the foundation for the discussion on analysis ability of linguistic cognitionand its training strategies.Chapter three analyzes psychological requirements in conference interpreting and itstraining strategies. Then, it implies that training of emotional control becomes anindispensable section in the interpreting training process.Chapter four narrates re-expressing ability in conference interpreting and its trainingstrategies. Expressive ability or public speaking ability is an imperative part in theinterpreting training, and has irreplaceable meaning to the improvements of interpreting.Based on the above-mentioned analysis and discussion, it can concluded that publicspeaking and conference interpreting belong to different expressive modes of language, however, training of public speaking not only can improve the interpreter’s interpreting skills, but also plays an important role in the analysis of linguistic cognition and emotional control.Interpreting is not a single linguistic expressive behavior, but a kind of cross-culturalcommunicative behavior covering different fields of knowledge. In some way, it can be saidthat, the objective of translation is not the language, but the meaning that the languagedelivers. Through public speaking, the interpreter can fully understand the speaker’s thinkingand emotions.
