This is an English-Chinese translation practice report whose source text is Africa Science Plan-Natural and Human-induced Hazards and Disasters downloaded from the International Council for Science(ICSU).The source text comprises 11 parts with more than 20,000 words published on 5 May 2017.No Chinese version has ever been in print so far.The contents of the source text are introductions of some natural and human-induced hazards and disasters and some coping strategiesNewmark once said that communicative translation theory is appropriate for informative text.As the translation material belongs to informative text,the author chooses his communicative translation theory as theoretical guideline for the translation task.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the author explores the translation of informative text from the lexical level,syntactical level and discourse level and puts forward the translation techniques.The author attempts to reproduce the feeling of source-text readers in target text to fully achieve the communicative effectThis thesis has totally four parts:task description,task process,case analysis and practice summary.The part of case analysis is the main body of this thesis.In this part,some specific examples are enumerated to make case analysis.The author classifies them into three groups:translation at the lexical level,translation at the syntactical level and translation at the discourse level.
