"The record of Xin'an neo-Confucianism" is the first book to outline the school of Xin'an neo-Confucianism.It records biographies of 112 philosophers from Song to Ming Dynasty, and sorts out the developing process of neo-Confucianism in Huizhou. It plays an important role in the history of academic thought, particulatly,in the study of Huizhou Academic Culture. In the early Ming Dynasty, the dominance of ZhuXi's neo-Confucianism was established and continued to develop under the stimulation of the imperial examination. In the middle of Ming Dynasty, although still remaining as ruling ideology, but as the rise of Yangming's psychology system,ZhuXi's neo-Confucianism faced a huge impact. As"Cheng Zhu Que Li" and "Southeast Zou Lu",Huizhou has a unique cultural environment, which contributes it's strong cultural atmosphere of respecting Cheng Zhu ideology. As a Huizhou scholar in the middle of the Ming Dynasty,Cheng Tong,in the face of the impact of Yangming's psychology system, wrote the book "The record of Xin'an neo-Confucianism".Which summed up the history of the development of Xin'an neo-Confucianism,in order to maintain the orthodox status of Cheng Zhu Li Xue.It can be said that the rationality of the context and the maintenance of Cheng Zhu are the accomplishments of the book " The record of Xin'an neo-Confucianism ".This book was written in the Ming Dynasty. There were a total of 112 scholars, mainly in chronological order, one person or several persons compiled in one volume. The scholars can be divided into three categories:one is Cheng Zhu and his peers;the second is Cheng Zhu's disciples in Huizhou and disciples of them;and the third is the dean of Academies and related officials.Except for volume 16,the content of each volume are basically a monumental writing and related records. This compilation is very similar to the "Yi luo yuan yuan lu"." The record of Xin'an neo-Confucianism " takes Ercheng(ChengHao,ChengYi)and Zhu Xi as the masters, and runs through the head and tail with a set of strict system. It gathers the biography of the philosophers in the Song and Yuan Dynasties in Xin'an area. It's the first time to sum up the development of Xin'an neo-Confucianism.Therefore,it is not only a collection of biographical data, but also a "study case" that shows the local academic genre.Among the characters included in the "The record of Xin'an eo-Confucianism ",11 scholars are not native Huizhou scholars to be exact. However,Zheng Yu and Cheng Minzheng, two Huizhou scholars with important academic influences, have not been listed in the book. The comparison between the two can find out Cheng Tong's thoughts. In addition, the two "Xin'an Academic Maps" depicted by Cheng Tong not only show the context of Huizhou academic masters, but also reflect the strong family style. It also can be found that the development of Xin'an neo-Confucianism has a certain connection with the Beishan School, the Shuangfeng School, and the Jiexuan School. As a summarizing local literature, there are more than a hundred of documents cited in the "The record of Xin'an neo-Confucianism",which have important documentary value and play an important role in the process of "Xin'an Neo-Confucianism" becoming a local neo-Confucianism school.
