A Study Of The Narrative Of Contemporary Realistic Suspense Novels

Suspense novels have been one of the most popular typologic literature among readers.It originated from black suspense novels in Europe and America,developed in the 1950s and 1960s,and still has vitality in the market today.lt is an important part of contemporary literature,Particularly in the popular literature.The tortuous bizarre story and the thrilling and strange atmosphere bring readers stimulating feelings and release their tention.The suspense novels have the function of pleasing readers.The emergence of the American writer Dan Brown,s "Da Vinci Code,has created a boom in the creation and reading of suspense novels in China.The development of Internet industry after the 21st century has provided the soil for the growth of network literature,and thus the local suspense novels in China have also ushered in an opportunity for development.In addition to satisfying the basic requirements of good-looking stories and wonderful plots,Chinese suspense novelists also consciously expressed their concern for the real society and their humanistic care in their creations,which has practical significance.This paper refers to such suspense novels that are based on the real society itself and reflects social life as ’realistic suspense novels*.Nowadays,with the emergence of film-based adaptation of literary works,realistic suspense novels have expanded their influence through movies and dramas.More and more people read suspense stories,which also attracted the attention of erities.This paper will use narratology to focus on the discourse and story of contemporary realistic suspense novels,and analyze the narrative techniques and story modes of contemporary realistic suspense novels.This paper selects the representative works of representative writers of contemporary reality suspense novels as the research object and is divided into three parts:the introduction,the text and the conclusion.In the introduction,we first compare and distinguish suspense novels with similar novels such as horror novels,detective novels,and mystery novels.On this basis,the concept of realistic suspense fiction is further defined.Then,I will give an overview of the development of contemporary realistic suspense novels and reach a conclusion:The development of realistic suspense novels has been influenced by both foreign suspense novels and Chinese native literature,and is related to the author’s spontaneous choice and the market demand of realistic suspense novels.In the body part,the narrative characteristics of contemporary suspense novels are analyzed from the perspectives of discourse,story and characters.The first chapter analyses the narrative types,perspectives,time and space of contemporary suspense novels.It clarifies that the contemporary realistic suspense novels is a kind of compound narrative type with both event-oriented and character-oriented.Suspicion novelists are good at using zero-focus and inner-focus in narrative perspective,adopting counter-chronological narration,especially the use of recounting techniques.In terms of narrative space,this paper not only points out the characteristics of using space to express characters’personality and promoting the development of the plot,but also summarizes several common spatial patterns in realistic suspense novels.The second chapter studies the writing and construction of the story theme of contemporary realistic suspense novels,and lists four common themes:Evil of human nature,crime and punishment,lynching trial and confrontation between right and evil.The third chapter of this paper divides the characters in the realistic suspense novels into three categories:suspense setters,interpreters and participants according to the relationship between characters and suspense,and analyses the unique writing characteristics of each type of characters.The fourth chapter is based on the conclusions drawn from the previous three chapters,and analyzes the texts of the three representative series of contemporary realistic suspense novels.They are Forensic Qin Ming,Criminal police Luo Fei,and Psychological crime.The conclusion affirms the achievements of contemporary suspense fiction.And also,points out the bottleneck of the development of contemporary realistic suspense novels,and looks forward to the future of realistic suspense novels.
