The Multiple Intelligence Theory suggests that human intelligence can be divided into eight different kinds of intelligence.Everyone has different combinations of intelligent advantages,which requires teachers to teach their students in accordance with their aptitude.However,a lot of teachers in vocational schools still adopt traditional teaching methods in reading class.They tend to use only one teaching method focusing on language intelligence only,and fail to develop students’ other intelligence,which is inconsistent with quality-oriented education.This thesis aims to answer two questions in order to improve the current situation.1.Whether can the MI-based reading teaching improve students’ performance?If possible,to what extent?2.How does the MI-based reading teaching affect students’ reading interest?Data are mainly collected from 1.questionnaires about the experimental class’different Multiple Intelligence and reading interest;2.classroom observation;3.two tests;4.a survey done at the end of the experiment.After using SPSS,here come the conclusions.1.MI-based reading teaching can improve students’ performances.We can clearly see that students in class behave more actively and their reading scores are improved.Students tend to be active in discussing with their teachers and classmates.They achieve higher marks in questions of detailed information,reasoning questions and questions related to vocabulary.2.MI-based teaching method has a positive impact on students’ reading interest.Most students prefer MI-based reading class.Revelations are as follows:If teachers apply the MI Theory to English reading teaching,students’ different kinds of intelligence will be practiced and strengthened.Besides,in that situation,their reading interest will also be aroused through a series of class activities based on MI theory.
