The teaching of English reading is an important part of English teaching,in the traditional reading teaching mode,students depend on teachers too much,they get used to studying passively,and it cannot arouse the enthusiasm of students,the effects of self-improvement are not obvious,the English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education also advocates the practice of task-based teaching method.However,the syllabus of TBLT does not tell us how to choose the tasks and what mode teachers should follow when they teach.In China,the research of task-based language teaching is gradually standardized and mature,and there have been already fruitful achievements,however,based on students' learning psychology,very little work has been done about the application of the teaching method in reading class in junior middle school.To know about how to localize the task-based teaching approach into China,this thesis,focusing on junior high school students' psychological characteristics of learning,studies the effects of two different types of tasks in reading teaching by the experiment.The tasks are experience-sharing tasks,problem-solving tasks.In order to verify the effectiveness of TBLT in the teaching of English reading,based on the literature research,according to the request of the new curriculumpaying attention to the interest and experience of students,the writer analyzed students' situation,designed the reading class by adopting TBLT,and carried out the experiment.Subjects are 87 students in Grade 8 in a middle school.At the same time,the writer collected the data by questionnaire,observation and interviews,and used SPSS19.0 to analyze the data and results.After twenty-one weeks' teaching practice,the reading ability of the students in the experimental class have become better than the ones in the other class.They have also got better grades.Their comprehensive ability and the independent learning ability have improved.Task-based approach is helpful to improve students' interest in English learning and also improve their studying effect.This study shows the practicability of task-based approach in English teaching of reading in junior high schools.
