It is no doubt that grammar plays an important part in English teaching because it determines how to combine separate words together in correct way.Therefore,how to teach grammar in English classroom has aroused spread attention.On the one hand,in Chinese traditional grammar teaching,there always exist a lot of explanations of complicated rules and structures.The classroom is teacher-centered in which students have no competence to apply new grammar into communication.On the other hand,some scholars and teachers over-emphasize fluency of the language,but neglect its accuracy.Larsen-freeman claims that form,meaning and use of the language should be concerned when grammar is taught.Therefore,this thesis tries to make an empirical study on TBLT in grammar teaching in junior high school to keep the balance between fluency and accuracy of the language.This thesis attempts to come up with two questions: Can TBLT in grammar teaching in multimedia environment improve students' grammatical achievement effectively? What are the students' attitudes towards TBLT in grammar teaching in multimedia environment? To answer these two questions,this thesis firstly chose two parallel classes total 94 junior high school students as its subjects,and randomly assigned one class as control group,and the other as experimental group.The experiment lasted about eight weeks.In the first week of the study,the pre-test was made to check students' overall English level.In the experiment,students were mainly taught with deductive method in control group,while in experimental group,the teacher mainly adopted TBLT.Besides,multimedia as a teaching tool was used in experimental group.After eight weeks' experiment,students' questionnaire was delivered to participants for the purpose of investigating their attitudes towards TBLT in grammar teaching in multimedia environment.Meanwhile,the researcher interviewed five students at different levels to act as supplement of questionnaire.At the end of eighth week of the study,the post-test was made to testify whether TBLT method is more helpful for students' achievement of grammar.Based on relevant TBLT and grammar teaching theories,in experiment group,this thesis came up with a four-step pedagogical procedure for introducing task: inductive presentation: warming-up,controlled practice,meaningful practice and task: grammar points related oral presentation.Hence,students not only practiced language points,but had the chance to communicate with language.After the experiment,the results revealed that TBLT in grammar teaching in multimedia environment can effectively improve students' grammatical knowledge.In addition,a majority of students had positive attitudes towards TBLTin grammar teaching in multimedia environment.It was widely believed that grammar teaching in multimedia environment was more interesting and they were willing to actively participate in classroom activities.Hence,TBLT was proved an effective way to enhance junior high school students' grammatical competence and motivate their learning interest.In the end,despite some limitations due to a lot of practical factors,some pedagogical implications were proposed to provide reference for further studies.
