Research On Beijing Metro Murals And Urban Image Construction In The Perspective Of Visual Communication

The visual art expression of public space is an indispensable part of the construction of urban image.Metro mural painting is a common public art in people's life and an important window for spreading the image of the city.Through the comprehensive analysis of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Beijing subway murals,it is concluded that since the first mural of the Beijing subway was completed in 1984,the Beijing Metro mural itself presents from a single theme to a multi-theme,from abstract to realistic,from dependent creation to dependent technology and body color transformed from the middle color to warm color.The image of the Beijing city also experienced three stages of development:"Proactive Beijing"(1980-2000),"Explored Beijing"(2001-2009),and "Modern Beijing"(2010-present).From both international and domestic perspectives,the image of Beijing constructed by the murals of Beijing Metro has changed from self-confidence to friendliness,from worship of the ancients to worship the present,and the overall image shows the changing trend of "ancient cultural capital-modern new city".Based on the judgment of whether there are literal symbols in Beijing Metro murals,Beijing Metro murals can be divided into two categories:pure image murals and literal murals.Through case studies of these two types of Metro murals,it can be concluded that:Firstly,Beijing Metro pure image murals construct distinctive Beijing,cultural Beijing and advanced Beijing through regional visual symbols,national visual symbols and modern visual expression.Secondly,the number of Beijing Metro literal murals is small.The characters in the murals made the image of "Cultural Beijing" more stereoscopic,multidimensional and attractive by emphasizing,explaining and strengthening the image content.Based on the study of Beijing Metro murals and city image construction,the thesis further discussed the relationship between the visual culture of urban daily life space and the construction of city image,clarifies the four construction paths of Beijing Metro murals on city image,also the influence of city image on Beijing Metro murals,and further deduces the relationship between the visual turn of urban daily life space and the construction of city image.Finally,we talked about problems in the construction of Beijing metro space visual culture,such as single means,small coverage and high homogeneity.By learning from the experience of developed countries,this thesis puts forward some suggestions to solve the shortcomings of the construction of Beijing metro space visual culture.
