A Research On "V Ge VP" Structure In Modern Chinese

The structure of "V ge VP" is a commonly used sentence pattern in modern Chinese.The scholars have made abundant researches on this structure,but most of them focused on the syntactic properties of the structure.On the basis of previous studies,this paper intends to further analyze the characteristics of the whole structure and each component.When analyzing the overall meaning of the structure,we find that the structure of "V ge VP" expresses not only subjective large-quantity but also small-quantity.According to different comparative basis(namely normal quantity and expected quantity),subjective large-quantity can be further subdivided.When analyzing the characteristics of "ge" and "VP",this paper finds that "ge" has the function of activating subjectivity,which affects the overall meaning of this structure.When comparing the structure of "V ge VP" with "V de VP",we point out that the structure of "V ge VP" has the characteristics of referentiality and imperfective.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the reasons of this paper's topic selection,the previous study findings,the shortcomings of previous studies and the research tasks of this paper.Proceeding from the overall meaning of the "V ge VP" structure,the second chapter analyzes the subjective quantity of this structure.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of "ge" in the structure.We find that in the continuum of "measure word-auxiliary word","ge" has the function of highlighting the topic focal point and activating subjectivity.In chapter 4,by comparing the differences of "VP" between "V ge VP" and "V de VP",we can find that "VP" in the "V ge VP" structure has large-quantity,referentiality and imperfective.In chapter 5,we summarize the full text about the researches on the structure of "V ge VP",and then proposes some questions for further research.
