The research object of this paper is European "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture.Starting from the various stages of the formation of "Chinoiserie",this paper sorted out the historical background, compared the relevant works, and analyzed the reasons for the formation of "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture and its artistic characteristics. The word "Chinoiserie" comes from the French word "Chinoiserie",which is a unique European artistic style.Born out of the "China craze" period in Europe, the artistic style was exaggerated and romantic, and the character modelling was mainly Chinese characters. At the same time,it also integrated the character characteristics of the Far East at that time. The main reason why "chinoiserie" is translated into "Chinoiserie" may be attributed to the cultural system.Sociologist Daimond once put forward that Chinese culture is the mother culture of all cultures in East Asian countries such as Korea,Japan and Southeast Asian islands, and to a certain extent, the mother culture of northeastern India. Therefore,"Chinoiserie" is an artistic style based on the whole Chinese cultural system, which will contain the humanistic features of some other Far Eastern countries, not only limited to China at that time. The emergence of "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture originated from the concept of Europeans. The land Silk Road brought China's silk to ancient Rome, which made the image of "Romantic China" remain in the consciousness of Westerners.Afterwards, the exaggerated description of China in Marco Polo's Travels shocked the Europeans, and the "rich China" continued to reverberate in the Europeans' minds. The sea trade brought by the opening of new shipping routes brought China closer to the eyes of Westerners. The warm and white porcelain became the new favorite of European nobles.Since then,a romantic and affluent paradise has emerged in the hearts of Westerners. The "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture was formed in the 17 th century and reached its peak in the 18 th century.Later, the French bourgeois revolution and the Opium War directly led to the decline of the "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures, and the rise of neoclassicism accelerated the disappearance of the "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures. Finally,"Chinoiserie" ceramic sculpture is integrated into European ceramic sculpture art."Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture works are composed of different parts: Chinese craftsmen specially designed for export in Europe;Chinese ceramic sculptures transformed by Europeans;ceramic sculptures made according to European orders;and "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures independently designed and manufactured by Europeans after mastering the firing technology of porcelain."Chinoiserie" ceramic sculpture is one of the sources of European ceramic sculpture.Influenced by Chinese art,Baroque art and Rococo art,it has formed a unique artistic language. This paper studies the composition and artistic elements of "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures, analyses the representative works of "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures from the formation to the peak of development, and combs out the three characteristics of "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures:First, the "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture is influenced by the art of China and Europe, and it is a kind of art work combining China and the West.In the early period, influenced by the Chinese export porcelain,a large number of designs and creations with the theme of Chinese export porcelain sculpture emerged.2.Western artists, inspired by China, have designed a series of "Chinoiserie" ceramic sculptures, which show the European imagination and yearning for China. The main creation of "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture comes from Europe. It expresses Westerners' thoughts and feelings in pursuit of heaven and exotic customs, not the traditional style of China.3.Due to the limitation of geography and language,in the early stage of maritime trade between the East and the West, the West did not have a deep understanding of the actual situation of China. The "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculpture designed is a fantastic art.The mature artistic style is that the western artists broke away from the direct Patchwork and grafting of Chinese artistic elements and began to use artistic processing.Subjectively creating "Chinoiserie" porcelain sculptures by means of artistic treatment. This unique European work of art shows the cultural, ideological and aesthetic differences between the East and the West.It is an excellent research object to study the similarities and differences between European and Chinese art."Chinoiserie" is an artistic system inspired by the Far East in Europe.Through the study of this theme,we can understand the unique image of Chinese art in early European art.
