Grammar,as the foundation of a language, plays a vital role in English learning.New Curriculum Standard for Senior High School English(2017)points out grammar teaching should adopt the “Form-Meaning-Use” grammatical view and autonomous and cooperative learning styles in senior high school grammar teaching. However, under the guidance of the traditional teaching model, the grammar teaching in senior high school takes the teacher as the center and pays more attention to the input than the output,so the students' interest in learning grammar is low,and the effect of grammar teaching is not satisfactory. In recent years, the flipped classroom which is student-centered has attracted more and more attention from scholars at home and abroad. However, few researches at home and abroad focus on the combination of flipped classroom with grammar teaching. The present study is aimed to examine the effect of the flipped classroom in English grammar teaching in high school. The present study mainly answers three questions:(1)What are students' attitudes toward the implementation of flipped classroom in grammar teaching?(2)Can flipped classroom teaching model achieve better results than traditional grammar teaching method in improving learners' grammar proficiency?(3)What effects does the flipped classroom teaching model bring to students' interest and autonomy in grammar learning? The experiment for present study lasts for one semester, and the research subjects are students from Class 9 and Class 10 in Grade two of Nanle No.1 senior high School. The flipped classroom teaching model is adopted in the experimental class(Class 9),while the traditional English grammar teaching method is implemented in the control class(Class 10).Research instruments including grammar tests, questionnaires and interviews are employed to collect data, and SPSS is used to do statistical analysis. The results are as follows:(1)Most students have positive attitudes toward the flipped classroom teaching model. It is suggested that the flipped classroom model can enhance their interest and promote grammar learning.(2)The flipped classroom model can better improve students' English grammar proficiency than traditional grammar teaching model.(3)Flipped classroom teaching model can improve students' interest and autonomy in English grammar learning. With flipped classroom model, many students are interested in English grammar and are satisfied with grammar teaching. In addition, students are more active in grammar classes.
