In people's daily life, collaborative encoding and collaborative recall are common phenomena, which may affect memory.Previous studies mainly examined the effect of collaborative recall on memory, while only some studies examined the effect of collaborative encoding on memory. At the same time,a few studies examining the effect of collaborative encoding on memory have yet to reach a consistent conclusion. Some studies have found that collaborative encoding can damage memory performance, and believe that it may be related to the destroying effect of collaborative encoding on the validity of memory cues. Some studies have found that collaborative encoding doesn't damage memory and can lead to the collaborative inhibition effect's elimination, which may be related to the formation of shared cues. This study includes three experiments, examining the effects of collaborative encoding combined with collaborative recall on different aspects of memory.Experiment 1 used a 2(encoding methods:individual/collaborative)x2(recall methods:individual/collaborative)two-factor between-subjects design.280 college students were selected as subjects to investigate the effect of collaboration on the memory of familiar groups and unfamiliar groups under the encoding method of related word generation.Experiment 2 adopts a 2(encoding methods:individual/collaborative)x2(recall methods:individual/collaborative)two-factor mixed design.112 college students are taken as subjects to investigate the effect of collaboration on the memory of familiar groups under the encoding method of sentence construction. In experiment 3,a 3(age groups:9-year-old group/11-year-old group/13-year-old group)×2(encoding methods:individual/collaborative)x2(recall methods:individual/collaborative)three-factor mixed design was adopted.240 children were taken as subjects to investigate the effect of collaboration on the memory of familiar group composed of children of three different ages under the encoding method of sentence construction. Results of this research show the effects of collaborative encoding and collaborative recall on memory, and the specific results are as follows:The results of experiment 1 show that in college students, collaborative encoding has no effect on correct recall rate;familiar groups' collaborative encoding combined with collaborative recall has an inhibitory effect on false memory;unfamiliar groups' collaborative encoding has an promoting effect on the generation of common memory, and can reduce the loss of items when recalled separately;collaborative encoding has an destructive effect on memory structure, and can improve the quality of retrieval cues.Collaborative recall can produce the post collaborative enhancement effect, can inhibit false memory, and can promote the generation of common memory content. The results of experiment 2 show that in college students, collaborative encoding can improve the correct recall rate, can promote the generation of common memory.and has no effect on sentence quality.Collaborative encoding can inhibit false memory and can promote the generation of common memory. The results of experiment 3 show that in children.collaborative encoding can improve the correct recall rate and has no effect on sentence quality.Collaborative recall can inhibit false memory. The results of this study show that collaborative encoding can have different effects on different aspects of memory. The influence of collaborative encoding on memory may be related to specific collaborative encoding methods. The collaborative encoding effect may be affected by the group member relationship.Collaborative recall can produce the post collaborative enhancement effect, produce the inhibition effect on false memory and produce the promotion effect on the generation of common memory.
