Collaborative memory refers to the activity in which two or more individuals perform recall tasks together.Collaborative recollection with others will affect the effect of recollection immediately or continuously,and produce the inhibition or promotion results such as collaborative inhibition,error pruning,and post-collaborative recall benefit,etc.Most of the existing theories and researches focus on the influence of meaningful materials on collaborative memory,and few researches explore the processing mechanism of meaningless materials collaborative memory.In this study,meaningful and meaningless symbols were used as materials,and two important factors affecting collaborative memory,collaborative mode and interpersonal relationship,were included to explore the influence of material meaning on collaborative memory.This study included three experiments.Experiment 1 explored the effect of material meaning on general collaborative memory,using 2(material meaning:meaningless material;meaningful materials)× 2(group: collaborative group;nominal group)the mixed experimental design was used to analyze the recall accuracy and the number of recall errors in the two stages of the two materials.Investigate the different results of collaborative memory under the operation of material meaning.The results show that the meaning of the material does not affect the collaborative inhibition,and the meaningful materials have a stable collaborative inhibition effect.The error pruning effect appeared only in meaningless materials but did not extend to the personal memory stage.There was no post-collaborative recall benefi between the two materials.Experiment 2 explore whether collaborative mode will have an impact on the results of collaborative memory of material meaning.Using 2(material significance:meaningless material;meaningful material)× 3(Group: free-flowing recall group;turn-taking recall group;nominal group)the mixed experimental design was used to analyze the recall accuracy and the number of recall errors in the two stages of the two materials.The results showed that the collaborative inhibition effect was stable under both collaborative methods,and the collaborative inhibition of the turn-taking recall recall group was stronger.Under the meaningless material,both groups showed the error pruning effect and did not extend to the personal memory stage,and the two groups did not show the post-collaborative recall benefit.Experiment 3 further explored whether interpersonal relationship played a decisive role in the influence of collaborative modes on the collaborative memory of material meaning.Using 2(material significance: meaningless material;meaningful material)× 4(antecedent interaction: collaborative cognition;social hot topic discussion;no interaction;nominal control)the mixed experimental design was used to analyze the recall accuracy and the number of recall errors in the two stages of the two materials.The results showed that under different antecedent interaction operations,collaborative inhibition appeared stably,and the collaborative inhibition of the collaborative cognitive group was the strongest.Under the meaningless material,each group showed error pruning effect,but only the social hot topic group was not affected by the meaning of the material.The error pruning effect did not extend to the individual memory stage,and only the social hot topic discussion group had a post-collaborative recall benefit.Based on the results of the above three experiments,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)Meaningless materials not only have the same collaborative inhibition effect as meaningful materials,but also have similar mechanisms affecting collaborative extraction such as collaborative modes and interpersonal relationships.Support the strategy interruption hypothesis of collaborative memory.It shows that individuals also use personalized strategies in the process of encoding and extracting meaningless materials.(2)Compared with meaningful materials,the collaborative memory of meaningless materials has a stronger error pruning effect,which is related to the fact that meaningless materials mainly rely on perceptual processing and are extracted based on familiarity.(3)Compared with the relationship established through collaborative cognition,the collaborative relationship established through social hot topic discussion makes collaborative retrieval perform better,the error pruning effect is stronger,and more memory benefits are obtained after collaboration.This is related to the closer relationship established by the discussion of social hot topic discussion and the emotional resonance between collaborators. |
