In the second language learning, graded reading is a very targeted and effective learning method, and the corresponding graded reading materials have also emerged as an aid to play an important role in the learner's language acquisition process. The appearance of graded reading in European and American countries is early, and a large number of graded readers have been published and the grading standards have gradually improved. In contrast, the application of graded reading is relatively late in China, especially in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and it is still not perfect.Although various kinds of graded reading materials for Chinese as a foreign language have been published in recent years, there are still many problems, especially there is no unified grading standard at this stage.Judging from the current grading situation of published Chinese-language graded readers, vocabulary plays an important role in the grading of most reading materials. Therefore, this article examines and analyzes the lexical richness performance of "Friends" Chinese Graded Readers(Adult Edition). At the same time,it also discusses the operability and rationality of lexical richness applied to the grading readers, and talks about the implications for the writing of reading matenals. This article is divided into the following sections:The first chapter, the introduction is the first part, which mainly describes the origin and significance of the research, the research summary related to the graded readers for Chinese as a foreign language and lexical richness,as well as the research objects, research methods and steps of this paper. The second part is the main part, including the second to fifth chapters. The second chapter discusses the operational feasibility of evaluating readers with lexical richness from the aspects of reading content, data statistics, and the role of extracurricular reading, which can lay the foundation for the calculation of the specific reading below. The third chapter is the quantitative statistics of the lexical richness of the graded reading materials of Chinese as a foreign language.Taking "Friends" Chinese Graded Readers(Adult Edition)as the specific investigation object, combining the conclusions of the second chapter,we select these four indicators:lexical frequency profile, lexical variation, lexical complexity and lexical density. We first introduce the statistical calculation methods of each indicator separately, and then display the specific calculation results and trends in the form of graphs, and summarize the characteristics on the surface. On the basis of the specific examples in the third chapter, the fourth chapter discusses the rationality of grading based on lexical richness from the aspects of the position of vocabulary in grading, the rationality of each dimension applied to the grading and the enhancement to the development of readers' vocabulary ability to find out which of the four dimensions selected above can be applied to the grading of the readings. The fifth chapter will talk about implications for the writing of reading materials and the prospects for future research. The final part is the conclusion, summarizing the content and views of the full text.
