New curriculum reform emphasizes the idea of people oriented and students'development.It also emphasizes that teachers should help and guide students.In today's educational current situation,every teacher is considering which teaching model we should adopt to ensure the high teaching quality,students' comprehensive abilities and the change of teachers' roles.The research mainly verifies whether "Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model can effectively improve junior high students' learning motivation and their grades.The writer finds that most teachers focus on explaining and testing language points and grammar again and again in her school.Teachers are still used to explaining everything in the whole class and students have little time to learn by themselves and in groups.Gradually,nearly two thirds of the students are not active in learning English,which causes their poor performances in English learning and tests.The same situation also exists in writer's teaching."Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model is a good way of teaching under the guidance of teachers.It uses questions to cultivate students' innovative qualities.It encourages students to explore independently,practice by themselves and exchange with partners.Through the cooperative learning and competition in groups,it realizes the harmonious development of the initiative of all the students social and creative abilities."Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model helps students to master good learning methods and form good learning habits.So it helps improve students' autonomous learning abilities.With the abilities,students know how to solve their problems in learning.The one-term research is mainly based on experiment,questionnaire,observation.In every unit,the writer prepares one listening and speaking class,one reading class,one grammar class and one writing class,in total 40 classes in experimental class.All these 40 classes are taught in "Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model.The same teaching contents are taught in control class in traditional teaching model.This research includes two hypotheses:1."Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model is more effective than traditional teaching model in the way of cultivating senior high students' English learning interest and motivation.2."Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model is more effective than traditional teaching model in the way of cultivating senior high students' English learning grades.The study results show that the practice under the instruction of "Autonomous collaborative inquiry" model achieves more significant growth in English learning interest and motivation.It helps students change their over-independence on teachers and form active learning attitudes and autonomous and cooperative learning ways.With these good changes,students in experimental class get better grades than those in control class.
