The Red Detachmentof Women is a piano suite written by Du Mingxin in 1975 was adapted from the dance drama of the same name.It combines the Western music structure with the Chinese national five-tone pattern.The new composing technique endows the suite a new vitality.While exhibiting the tunes of Chinese folk style,the new suite also absorbs the western harmony.The Red Detachment of Women is a meticulous work by Du Mingxin,and it enjoys rather significant value and status in the compilation of music in China.There are 7 works in the whole set,which are selected from the most representative 7segments of music material in the dance drama;therefore,it is overtly pragmaticand appealing.In this research,the author has carefully studied the works of Mr.Du Mingxin,and comprehensively analyzes The Red Detachment of Women according to her personal comprehension in musical performances.The author also comprehensively illustrates the styles,melody,rhythm,and key touch of the suites.This paper is comprised of three chapters.The first chapter analyzes some relevant objective factors;for instance,what kind of environment as well as social phenomenon the composer Du Mingxin was facing then when he created The Red Detachment of Women.The second chapter starts with discussing the integration of Chinese and Western in music creation,thoroughly explores the combination of ethnic tonality,melody with Western techniques in the suite,an d summarizes the artistie features of national creation techniques.The third chapter is about the analysis of the performance,which further demonstrates the utilization of Chinese and Western music collisions in performance,and it also analyzes the melody,keys touching and tone simulation specifically.
