Although the novels and its movies adaptations show the same story to the readers, the text world inside them is not the same. This difference is the result of different choices of narrative strategies in novels and movies.Previous studies mainly focused on the specific adaptation phenomenon, which out of the specific adaptation phenomenon, and discussed this issue from the theoretical level are less. This thesis attempts to go out of the concrete adaptation phenomenon, proceed from the angle of reception aesthetics, take narratology as the method, combine the concrete adaptation case, namely the novel Mrs.Dalloway and The Hours, and discusses how the narrative strategy changes from novels to films adaptation, and research how these changes influences the readers to access and construct the text world. The first chapter focus on the narrative distance, discusses the differences of readers perceived distance when they enter the meaning world of the novel text and the movie text, which because of the difference of the media giving the information ways. The novel narration leads the reader to hit the inner thought of the character and the narrative voice of the text directly, while the film narrative lets the audience listen directly to the characters words, substitute into the characters lines of sight, and promote the relation between the audience and the character in the audio-visual aspect. The second chapter focuses on the time of narrative, and discusses the related time problems that readers encounter in the construction of text world. This problem includes two aspects, one is the time series of the text, the other is the diachronic problem of the reading activity. In addition, the problem of time in the text has a decisive effect on how readers construct the story.Based on Genet's research, this paper makes a further analysis from three aspects:order, time distance and frequency.Order affects how the readers recognize the original face of the story in the time of the disrupted story, which is done in the film by editing the lens, and because the image is in the same time dimension as the audience, the time reversal phenomenon expresses in the film is more like a present consciousness. The time distance affects the readers how to grasp the rhythm of the text, the narrative time in the novel text is the screen time in the film.Frequency discusses the repetition relationship between discourse and story, which is another expression of the rhythm of the text, the repetition in the novel text appears as the reappearance of the lens in the film. The third chapter begins with the space of the text world constructed by the reader, this section analyzes how the narrative space of the novels and the narrative space of the films are constructed respectively. The narrative space of the novel is established by the readers through the hint of the text, and the space of the film can be directly presented in the audiences vision. This different way of construction brings different advantages to novels and movies. In the detail aspect, the novel has a transcendental right to choose not to express the details, and the details of the film must be clear. In addition, the time nature of the novel presents a spatial pattern in the film.
