Rhythm is both “gene” and the basic law of the development of dance moves.From the point of view of rhythm development in the composition of regional folk dance works,some regional folk dance works are studied in this paper,including “Pan Lang Chn”(an excerpt of a ritual dance of Changde Dingcheng District to conjure gods for blessing and exorcise demons),Changde Sixian(a theatrical folk music style with singing in Changde dialect accompanied by traditional string instruments)of Changde Wuling District,Flower Drum of Taoyuan County and Tujia Dance of Shimen County,mainly by methods of literature research,field investigation and case study.Based on review of the regional folk dance rhythm in Changde,the author focuses on clarifying the principles and methods of the rhythm development in the composition of folk dance works.The paper presents the author's opinions from the following three aspects.Firstly,it provides a general overview of Changde regional folk dances,mainly introducing the types and basic rhythm of regional folk dances.Secondly,the author analyzes the rhythm development practices in the composition of Changde regional folk dances from the perspective of composition,and discusses the rhythm development in the composition of regional folk dances.Finally,the principles and methods of the rhythm development of regional folk dances have been found,based on the reflection of the composition practices.This study is undertaken to enrich the ways of composing folk dance works by developing the practical composition methods of folk dance rhythm,which can provide reference to the principles and methods of regional folk dance development,and contribute to the inheritance and development of folk dance.
