The student-centered teaching mode embodies the teaching idea of "teacher-centered and student-centered".This paper is guided by humanism theory,constructivism theory and subject education theory.Taking the 16-level business management students of a vocational college in Jiangxi as the research object,this paper uses four research methods: literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and experimental research method.This paper mainly studies the feasibility and validity of the student-centered teaching mode,the existing problems and the direction of improvement.Firstly,the thesis generally introduces the research background,research goals and meaning,the research methods adopted.Secondly,it recounts the present situation of the research in the home and abroad as well as the basic points of three theories mentioned above.Thirdly,it discusses the student-centered teaching model,which includes the connotation,the shining points of model,the manipulation procedures and the guideline for teaching.Fourthly,it introduces the experimental process of teaching with the teaching model: testing the students before and after the experiment,distributing questionnaires to students and interviewing them for their opinions of the model.Finally,it collects and analyzes the experiment data to get a conclusion: This teaching mode can significantly improve students' performance,and it is indeed feasible in Higher Vocational English teaching.The result of research indicates that the student-centered teaching model can improve the students' performance in the English exam and arouse students' interest towards English,as well as boost students' subjective sense and degree of satisfaction to the teaching activity.In the meanwhile,it exposes some problems emerging during the teaching process and brings us some enlightenment from the research.
