| French is often considered by many to be the most beautiful language in the world, and the best way to find out if a nice language is to enjoy its poetry. As one of the most important parts of French literature and art, poetry’s content and subject matter guide the creation of artistic songs, and also affect the emotional expression, melody development, accompaniment and harmony and form structure of songs. As a singer,we should analyze the relationship between language and music in vocal music works, and then try to figure out the connotation and artistic conception of poetry, and understand the poet’s starting point and the feelings he wants to express. Then the experienced lyrics are substituted into the composer’s music, feeling the cooperation between the composer’s music language and poetry,as well as the motivation of melody development, each layer of progression and each turn.To truly sing French art songs, the analysis of the two points of "poetry" and "music" is essential.Composer Fauré made great contributions to the development of music in France from the 19 th century to the early 20 th century. His works are smooth in melody, elegant in style, and mostly use French symbolism poetry as the lyrics, such as French writers Hugo and Verlaine. He gradually established his unique style after being influenced by the emerging trends of thought such as French "end-of-the-century" literature and painting. The elegance can be seen everywhere in there.Using new music technique and unique aesthetic taste,Fauré pushed the French art songs from the end of the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century to a new peak. This paper combines poetry and art with music to analyze the creative connotation of poetry and literature,to maximize the understanding of French art and culture,to try to perfectly interpret the beauty of symbolism poetry and music beauty of French art songs, and to explore more potential artistic value of French art songs.I will take Fauré’s songs "after a dream" and "the cradles" as the main research object to carry out the artistic research on French art songs. Both of these two songs are implicitly sentimental in style, but they are different in technique of expression. |
