With the development of economic globalization, communications and exchanges among countries are increasingly strengthened. It is undeniable that translation plays an indispensable role in the communication between different countries. In particular,it is pointed out that one of the great values of literary translation is “learning and absorbing”,that is,not only expanding their own research results, but also systematically introducing foreign theoretical knowledge.Guided by the Text Type Theory of Peter Newmark, the author takes Chapters 3 to 7of Towards a General Theory of Translational Action as an example to analyze the translation techniques of informative texts. This report consists of four chapters: Chapter One is a brief introduction of the translation project, mainly introducing the source of translation materials, meaning of the selected topic, contents and linguistic features of the original text;Chapter Two is the description of the translation process,in which the author reproduces the whole process of translation in the time axis of pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation;Chapter Three is the case analysis, which is the key chapter of this report.Under the guidance of the Theory of Text Typology, this report analyses how the theory guides translation practice from the perspective of lexicon and syntax in combination of specific cases;Chapter Four is the conclusion of this report, which summarizes the translation practice from the experiences of the author as well as the limitations of this report.Throughout this translation, the author learns about the functionalist Skopos Theory of Hans J.Vermeer, deepens the understanding of this translation theory and,at the same time, enhances the understanding of the translation techniques of theoretical books attached to information-based texts. It is hoped that the strategies summarized in this translation practice report can provide some reference for the E-C translation of informative texts.
