In recent years, thanks to the development of information and Artificial Intelligence(A.I.)technology,algorithms and computer performance, machine translation technology has made great progress and been applied in various areas.Facing this new trend, translators should not only have specific translation skills, but also understand the characteristics and applicable scope of machine translation and explore the efficient use of machine translation methods. This thesis, aims to explore the specific performance of Google Translate to help translators improve efficiency and accuracy. It takes English-Chinese translation of Privacy,Free Expression and Transparency: Redefining Their New Boundaries in the Digital Age as an example, summarizes the common problems of the imperfect translation of Google in the process, and explores what strategies should be adopted by translators to compensate for the shortcomings of machine translation.Throughout the translation practice, the author realized the feasibility of combining machine translation with post-editing and the great potential of “machine translation + post-editing” in the future. The continuous development of machine translation is bound to change the structure of language service industry and affect the career prospects of practitioners.MTPE is an irresistible trend, which is effective in improving translation efficiency and reducing the burden on translators.Through the translation practice, the author hopes not only to obtain better skills in machine-aided translation, but improve her understanding of the use of machine translation in official documents in a particular field, like journalism and communication in this case.
