| Heart disease has always been afflicting people all over the world.Facing the rising domestic demand for related medical popular science books,translators need to present high quality works to Chinese readers.Based on Chapters 12-14 in the popular science book Preventing and Reversing Heart diseases for Dummies,this translation practice report summarizes the whole procedure of the translation practice,including the preparation before translation,the translation process and the reviewing work after translation.Besides,the report analyzes the definition and characteristics of popular science texts and explores the guiding significance of the theory of Translation as Adaptation and Selection in the practice.Under the guidance of this theory,the paper examines the specific examples taken from the translation practice,and discusses the “three-dimensional”transformation methods of popular science texts,including linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension transformation.In general,the report aims to not only popularize preventing and reversing heart diseases for dummies,but also put forward more translation strategies and methods for translation studies. |
