In the crucial period of personal growth, facing various psychological stresses, such as schoolwork burden, expectations from parents, society and the competition for higher education, high school students are more prone to learning burnout. Thus,in the context of the reform of college entrance examination and the policy of reducing education burden, this study explores the effect of stressful life events on learning burnout of high school students and its underlying mechanism,in oder to propose suggestions to decrease learning burnout of high school students from the prespective of family, school and individual. The study consists of four sub-studies.The first sub-study discusses the current situation of learning burnout in high school students, the differences in demographic variables, the correlation among variables, and the mediating effects of ego-depletion between stressful life evens and learning burnout. Then,on the basis of the mediation model, the second sub-study explores the moderating effect of parent-child communication, which is a family factor,on the mediating model in sub-study one.The third sub-study explores the moderating effect of mindfulness, which is a protective individual factor,on the mediating model in sub-study one.Lastly, the fourth sub-study explores the moderating effect of school connectedness, which is a school factor,on the mediating model.A total of 1,488 high school students were tested by the stressful life event scale,ego-depletion scale, learning burnout scale,parent-child communication scale, mindfulness scale and school connectedness scale. The results indicate that:(1)The detection rate of learning burnout was 33.87% among high school students. The average score of learning burnout in grade one is higher than that in grade two, girls are higher than boys,Non-only-child is higher than only-child.(2)there was a significant positive correlation between stressful life events,ego-depletion and learning burnout.Parent-child communication, mindfulness and school connectedness were negatively correlated with stressful life events,ego-depletion and learning burnout,respectively.(3)The indirect effects of stressful life events on learning burnout of high school students through ego-depletion.(4)Stressful life events,ego-depletion,learning burnout and parent-child communication can form a moderated mediation model.(5)Stressful life events,ego-depletion,learning burnout and mindfulness can form a moderated mediation model.(6)The school connectedness moderate the direct path only, thus it can not form a moderated mediation model. Conclusion :(1)Learning burnout is common among high school students, there are differences in the demographic variables of learning burnout in high school students.stressful life events can positively predict learning burnout of senior high school students, and ego-depletion plays a partial mediating role.(2)parent-child communication moderate the second half of the indirect path, and improving parent-child communication can help reduce learning burnout.(3)mindfulness moderate the second half of the indirect path, and improving the level of mindfulness can help reduce learning burnout.(4)school connection moderate the direct path, and improving school connection is helpful to reduce learning burnout.
