The Relationship Between College Students' Life Events And Depression: A Regulated Intermediary Model

The formation of depression is affected by many factors,so it is significant for us to understand the formation of depression and prevent depression.Especially in the current,college students are in a stage of social transformation,various pressure is coming such as learning and employment pressure.Understanding the formulation of depression is usefu to improve the psychological quality and alleviate the prevalence of depression,which is of great significance to the country as well as the nation.At present,the main research direction of depression focus on Event related potential,magnetic and other high-tech fields,in turns,it also lead people turn to the basic theoretical research field,since there are so many theory of depression.the theory of integration is an inevitable trend.On the basis of previous studies,this study integrates the factors that have a certain impact on depression and tries to explore the formation of depression.The adolescent life events checklist scale,multiattributional causality scale,self-esteem scale,revised NEO five-factors scale of neuroticism subscale and Self-Report Depression Scale are used to investigate in 882 college students.SPSS 20.0,Amos17.0,M-plus 7.0 are used for data process and analysis.The results show that:(1)The prevalence rate of depression in college is 40.2%.life events and depression have significant differences in gender,age,profession and origin.self-esteem has significant differences in grade,origin,only-child or not.Neuroticism has significant differences in grade,origin.Atttributional style has significant differences in grade.(2)The life events of college students is mainly reflected on the interpersonal relationship and learning.(3)The correction of life events,attributional styles,self-esteem,neuroticism,depression is significant.(4)After controlling the effect of demography,life events,attributional style,self-esteem and neuroticism can significantly predict depression.(5)There has three paths in the relationship between life events and depression as follows:life events act on depression directly.life events act on depression through attributional style.life events makes differences to depression through the chain mediating effect of attributional style and self-esteem.during the inspection of bootstrap with bis corrected,all the paths are significant,the indirect effect accounts for 49.7%of the total effect.6.Durying the model of the formulaiton about depression,neuroticism plays a moderation in it.The definite paths are as follows:neuroticism plays a moderating effect between self-esteem and depression.According to the integration of attributional style,self-esteem and neuroticism,some conclusions was obtained:the effect on depression via life events have many ways.the mediating and moderating effect are concluded.During which,In one word,the model is a mediation with moderation.
