This report selects Professor Daniel Innerarity's Governance in the New Global Disorder: Politics for a Post-Sovereign Society as a text for translation practice. The book, divided into three parts, analyzes the impact of political, economic and cultural disorder on globalization, and discusses the consequences of such crises as security issues, food supply, health care and so on.Finally, combined with specific cases,Innerarity gives his own solutions. This is of great guiding significance to the field of social science, especially to the study of political science and sociology. The selected text is a monograph on sociology and political science, which is of great significance for the systematic and objective study of human society and social interaction. This report is based on Newmark's text type theory and communicative translation theory.According to different content and style,Newmark believes that texts have expressive function, information function, calling function, aesthetic function, social function and metalinguistic function.According to different text types,he contends that different translation methods should be adopted?semantic translation or communicative translation.Newmark regards language as a tool of thinking and self-expression,and attaches importance to the communicative function of language, thus forming the viewpoint of “communicative translation”(Newmark,1981).Through case analysis, this report shows that communicative translation theory has certain guidance and applicability in academic text translation. This report consists of five parts, summarizing the translation practice of the selected text. The first part is the introduction. The second part deals with pre-translation preparation. The third part describes the process of text translation. The fourth part provides the translation case analysis. The fifth part summarizes the experiences and shortcomings in the process of translation. The author uses communicative translation theory as a guide in this translation practice, and then using translation methods analyze specific examples, such as: literal translation, free translation, addition translation, split, integration, sequential translation and reverse translation. On the premise of accurately transmitting the information of the original text, the translation should be adjusted appropriately, and the functional equivalence between the translation and the original text can be achieved to the greatest extent in the aspect of information transmission. On the lexical level, examples are given to analyze how to translate terminology, abstract words, polysemy and words' new meanings in context. The translation of attributive clauses and long difficult sentences is the focus of explanation at the sentence level. At the textual level, from three perspectives ?textual cohesion, textual coherence and textual layout, the author analyzes how to achieve communicative translation of academic texts. The author believes that whatever points of views or translation methods are used,we should be reader-oriented.The translation of academic information texts is not easy.In transmitting information, translators need to be faithful to the original text, but also to conform to Chinese expression,so as to make the translation readable and thus improve the quality of translation.
