In order to put forward different translation strategies and evaluation criteria for different types of text, translation theorists have long been committed to finding a standard. Peter Newmark, an English translator and translation theorist, summarized and perfected the text classification model proposed by the German psychologist Buhler and German functionalist translation theorists Royce, and came up with a new classification model after analyzing multiple source text classification problem. Newmark’s model is able to classify the text types in both systematic and comprehensive ways, and it characterizes various types of text in a detailed definition with corresponding translation strategies. Based on the book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, with Newmark’s translation theory as its support, this paper aims not only to analysis the translation deficiencies of the first Chinese version at the level of words, sentences, paragraphs and passage, but also to revise it and ultimately improves the quality of its Chinese version published by China Youth Publishing Group. This paper gives a brief introduction of the aim and significance of the study. Moreover, besides the text types and translation strategies defined by Newmark, the guiding significance can also be found. After presenting the background of the book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, based on the level of words, sentences, and texts, a comparison of the original version and mine are shown followed by the analysis.
