In the West,cultural patronage has a long history,which can be traced back to the ancient Greece and Rome.Similarly,cultural patronage was also one of the important activities of Tudor court in England.There are profound reasons for the rise of cultural patronage in Tudor dynasty.The sponsor's personal interest is the premise of cultural patronage.The prosperous economy provided the material conditions for patronage.Renaissance was introduced into Britain,influenced by humanism,people began to turn their attention from God to people,demanding to get rid of the bondage of feudal churches,and monarchs and nobles spared no effort to patronize culture,at the same time,there also gave birth to many female sponsors.Tudor monarchs and nobles was more or less carrying out some form of cultural patronage,while well-known scholars and scholars was more or less sponsored by one or even more monarchs and nobles.In addition,cultural patronage had far-reaching impacts,ensuring the interests of the sponsors,promoting the development of the sponsored individuals and the prosperity of the whole society and culture.Foreign scholars have carried out various studies on this topic.However,the current domestic research on this issue is few and not systematic.What was the cultural patronage during the Tudor Dynasty? How did cultural patronage rise and develop during Tudor dynasty? At the same time,what kind of social function did it have? This paper intends to answer these questions through reading the relevant articles.This article is divided into four chapters: The first chapter mainly explores British early cultural sponsorship.The second chapter analyzes the reasons for the rise of cultural patronage in Tudor dynasty.The third chapter introduces in detail the patronage of scholars and scholars by monarchs and nobles through examples.The fourth chapter deeply analyzes the influence of Tudor cultural patronage from three angles: sponsor,clients and society.
