Since the establishment of MTI(Master of Translation of Interpreting)degree in2007,the program has developed fast in more than 200 institutes.A number of MTI coursebooks have also been published.Interpreting competence development is the focus of MTI interpreting teaching and coursebooks are an important tool to realize teaching goals. This thesis makes a case study of series of MTI interpreting coursebooks published by FLTRP in order to find out the current situation of the use of selected coursebooks in MTI training and the reflection of components of interpreting competence in these coursebooks based on Huo's coursebook usage mode,Wang's interpreting competence model and GDUFS model of interpreting teaching.Through questionnaire survey and qualitative analysis, this study finds out that most of the teacher's usage of selected coursebooks in class belongs to the autonomous type,a small part belongs to the adapting type and nearly no teacher's usage of selected interpreting coursebooks in class belongs to the faithful type.In general,skill-based coursebooks are used more often by MTI teachers in class and MTI students after class than topic-based ones. The Focus on three components of interpreting competence is reflected in selected coursebooks with an appropriate distribution.Interpreting skills receive more attention in coursebooks for different interpreting modes such as sight interpreting, consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting.Extra-linguistic knowledge is found more often in topic-based interpreting coursebooks such as business interpreting and diplomatic interpreting.Bilingual competence is mainly reflected in A Foundation Coursebook of Interpreting. The thesis also finds a lack of focus on professional standards and team work skills and on extra-linguistic knowledge related to speaker's information and conference backgrounds of corresponding interpreting materials.Part of extra-linguistic knowledge is put at the end of each unit, whose connection with theunit topic and interpreting materials is not clear. On the basis of what's mentioned above, the thesis attempts to propose the compilation principle of interpreting development oriented MTI interpreting coursebooks and provides suggestions on the use of selected coursebooks in practical MTI training.
