A Study On The Acquisition Of Synonymous Verbs In Chinese By Korean Learners In The Middle And High Level

Abstract/Summary:
The correct use of synonym verb is one of the difficulties faced by foreign learners in learning Chinese.Especially,Korean students who use Chinese characters in Korean language are more easily influenced by their mother tongue.Therefore,this research takes “synonymous verbs” as the topic of the study,and analyzes the status of Chinese acquisition by middle-and high-level Korean learners and the cause of the errors.Through the study,it is found out that Korean learners had difficulties using synonym verbs when studying words used as two words in Chinese were used as one in Korean.Also,it is figured out that Korean learners,who are influenced by their mother tongue,easily make mistakes when they use the homograph characters.Therefore,the writer collected the data through the survey and analyzed the common causes among Korean learners: Internal reasons turned out to be knowledge of the object,influences by mother tongue,lack of learning schemes,limited learning time.For external reasons,there were limited learning time,insufficient explanation from teachers,and insufficient teaching materials.However,the writer does not support the teaching of structural analysis method.To solve this problem,the writer suggests four ideas: Firstly,teach the learners by comparing the Korean and Chinese characters using homograph characters.This can be subdivided into two ways: to learn quickly using positive effects and to avoid errors by using the difference between the two languages.Secondly,use the collocation method.To help a learner acquire a synonym verb,teachers should teach phrases that are frequently used in a fixed format,so that the students can learn synonym verbs in the earliest possible.This second method is what the writer supports the most.Thirdly,create a language environment to encourage accurate use of synonym verbs.This naturally allows learners to create a tone for the language.Lastly,the writer does not support the structural analysis method.This is an appropriate method for learners with specific purposes,such as teacher training,and it can make learners more difficult when giving a lecture using jargon.In addition,the writer suggests some precautions: to reduce learners’ pressure by taking a teaching strategy of "easy first,difficult later";to help learners to correct the errors immediately;to arrange the teaching sequence in order considering importance and difficulty;and let learners solve a lot of practice problems.
