Language and gender,as the major topic in sociolinguistics,has attracted more and more attention from scholars at home and abroad.Conversational repair is a frequent phenomenon in conversation interaction,which is used to correct the expressions when speakers or listeners encounter the language unreasonable,unintentionally misused or misunderstood during the conversation.Previous studies most focus on repair types,repair structure,repair strategy,repair pragmatic function and so on,rarely touching on the question what the relationship between social factors and conversational repair markers.The scripts of five-hour video in The Amazing Race 27~thh season are considered as the source of corpus,and the markers through search engines are identified in a small built database.The final research objective sixty-four conversation repair markers will be determined with the research method of Conversation Analysis and analyzed with conversational repair theory and face saving theory.Finally,the author will study gender differences with gender as a social variable in conversational repair markers by qualitative and quantitative approaches.The results show that,there are no significant differences in the frequencies of conversational repair markers and types of conversational repair between men and women;both men and women tend to self-repair in the types of conversational repair.Specifically,there exist significant differences in types of self-repair according to the different gender recipient.The analysis of the conclusions and explanation of the reasons are made.The continuous development of society,the improvement of education level and the types of occupation lead to the narrowing of gender differences and there is a convergence phenomenon.Figure 0;Table 15;Reference 55...
