Appreciating Quality Of Scholar Painting In Yuan Dynasty From Ni Zan

“noble character” as aesthetic pursuit of literates in Yuan dynasty to paints,represented painters' noble character and their aesthetic interests of pursuing freshness,dullness and innocence.External pattern of manifestation of“noble” is painters' pursuit to spiritually similar ink,its internal connotation is painters' own noble personal accomplishment and temperament and conveyed spiritual appearance of works to viewers.Literates' paints in Yuan dynasty as the first peak of “noble quality”,their major painting feature is emphasizing on expression of paints' inner real emotion and literature interest of integrated poem,calligraphy,paint and printing.Painters in Yuan dynasty took books as reference to paint and lowered requirement to one aspect of reproduction object in painting function and painting became a kind of artistic mode of expressing one's character and life philosophy and made mountains and water paints in Yuan dynasty a noble style of unique lyric freehand.The paper mainly analyzed Ni Zan's thoughts change process of three important life turning points as well as change and development of ink style of works at the same period.First is the stage of the change of Ni Zan's inner voice facing family's vicissitudes at middle and young age,and copying the ancients,second is the stage of his experience in Taihu Lake for travel after abandoned family after middle age and painting “natural master”,second is a mature stage that his inner thoughts change after re-experienced pass-away of families and friends and formulated “noble” style finally.Ni Zan proposed “ease theory” is a painting theoretical point with the most literature spirit in painting aesthetics of the whole Yuan dynasty,he is a classical representative of painting noble quality in Yuan dynasty whatever from painting work or personal temperament,his lifetime was influenced by Confucianism,Taoism and Chan in thinking,and he integrated thoughts of three schools and melted his life experiences and daily life as well as his thinking to life philosophy into painting creation,and shaped a noble ideal world by easy cursive unique ink style.His thinking change in his lifetime and formulation process of painting style are worth being learned and thought by current traditional painting field,especially its unique composition and extremely personalized ink wrinkle method and his noble cultivation and character play an important guiding role to change difficult status of modern traditional mountain and water painting creation.
