This is a report on the E-C translation of the book It’s So Amazing.Published in America, the book tries to teach children the scientific knowledge of sex.Due to the fact that most Chinese people are sensitive to the topic of sex education and the target readers are children, the translator draws largely on reception aesthetics theory and proposes that translation should conform to the linguistic features of children’s language, children’s imagery thinking feature and cultural differences between China and western countries.Such being the case, under the guidance of “the target reader centered principle” in reception aesthetics theory, the translator adopts the following translation strategies by learning from the experiences of both other translators and her own.Firstly, reduplication and exclamation words are needed to meet the needs of children’s language;secondly, metaphor and personification can be used to explain concepts that are relatively complicated and abstract for children;thirdly, translation strategies of adaptation and omission can be deployed to tackle cultural dissimilarities such as different conceptions of sex education and differences in language and religion between China and America.
