| Translators must adopt certain translation strategies to rewrite the original text when translating news.Andre Lefevere redefined the ideology and poetics factors,and believed that translation is the rewriting of the original text.Translation is not only a linguistic transformation,but also influenced by the culture of the target society,in which,ideology and poetics factors play the leading roles.The previous research on rewriting theory often was conducted by the scholars using the literary translation corpus,while the theoretical guidance of news translation was mainly the Skopos theory or the other linguistic theory.In addition,compared with the rapid development of literary translation in various countries,news translation has always lacked systematic theoretical guidance.This thesis selected the domestic online platforms that can legally directly reprint and translate foreign media news: the Reference News and Global Times.The manuscripts selected by the two websites are mostly taken from the foreign media,such as the New York Times,the Wall Street Journal,the Washington Post,Time magazine,Bloomberg News,CNN,etc.By comparing the original news reports of foreign media with the translated texts of the Reference News and Global Times,we can explore the adaptations the translator made during the process of translating as well as the reasons behind it.What's more,we can summarize the specific rewriting strategies.Through the comparative analysis of the actual news cases,this thesis found that the translator would rewrite the news from the aspects of vocabulary,narrative and rhetoric by using the specific rewriting strategies such as addition,omission and replacement methods.The rewriting that can live up to the mainstream ideology and mainstream poetics norms of the target society would directly affect the result of news dissemination.Hope this thesis can provide some references and enlightenments for the news translation in the future. |
