Based on the experience of overseas teaching for nearly a year,The author found that textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language overseas are almost domestic published according to syllabus and examination of China.So they are not applicable for Australia students.These Chinese textbooks are not good to meet the needs of the teaching.This leads domestic published Chinese textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language are not popular in NSW Australia.The author wish to compare domestic foreign language textbooks‘ Easy Steps to learn Chinese ' and ‘Ni Hao' with the investigate about the use of Chinese teaching materials,Chinese textbooks opinions and views of teachers and students in primary and secondary schools in Australia and to find the advantages and disadvantages of books.Then I will give suggestions to promote the improvement of Chinese teaching material system and promo the development of International Education in the Chinese language.The author did surveys and interviews about Easy Steps to learn Chinese and Ni Hao.SPSS software was used to statistically analysis the data from the questionnaires.And the author compared differences between Easy Steps to learn Chinese and Ni Hao in writing concept,structure,vocabulary,grammar,text and practice,etc.And summed up the following conclusions: Easy Steps to Chinese: the total amount of thevocabulary is large;aspects of the number of words,non-word morpheme and phrases' English interpretation are not collect;grammar should be edited from the shallower to the deeper,and complex grammar points are too concentrated,and the interpretation of grammar is too specialized;the title setting is not clear enough,the figure is messy;the amount of exercise is too much.Ni Hao: the distribution of vocabulary is not uniform in single class,vocabulary meaning too much;complex grammar points are too concentrated,and grammar interpretation is too simple;the text genre is small,and the illustration is monotonous;the forms of exercises are not too much.The author wishes to find out the advantages and disadvantages of domestic and abroad Chinese textbooks,and combine the compilation with the feedback of the teaching materials,and prepare proposals for the Chinese textbooks in NSW Australian,then promoting the improvement of Chinese teaching material system.Finally the author wishes to promote the development of Chinese International Education.
