Research On Ideographic Characters In Modern Chinese Characters

This paper has taken HSK outline Chinese characters(2905)as research material to confirm three standards and five screening principles for the definition of ideological characters.427 ideographic characters meeting the standards have been screened out.This paper has made deep research on the patterns of 427 ideographic characters with combinations of quantitative analysis and qualitative research,diachronic analysis and synchronic analysis as well as theory and practice.This paper has made component split for ideographic characters.After confirming the split principle,this paper has made one-time split for ideographic characters based on constitutive meaning,367 components have been attained in total,including 194 character components,135 non-character components and 38 components with the same pattern.Compared with the components of oracle ideographic characters,the number of non-character components increases obviously.The attained components can be divided into human body and organ category,animal and plant category,natural landscape category,living appliance and scene category,sacrifice punishment category etc based on the contents of description.Component frequency table has been listed in this paper;analysis and discussion for 14 commonly used components have been made.This paper has made research and analysis for the configuration and conformation model of ideographic characters.The configuration model of ideographic characters can be divided into same configuration word and different configuration word from the perspective of similarities and differences of components.There are only 12 same configuration words and different configuration word is the main means of configuration.From the perspective of functions of components,ideographic characters can be divided into three categories,including unity of meaning,unity of meaning and pattern and unity of pattern,which account for 42.15%,34.19% and 12.88% of the total number respectively.Unity of meaning mode is the main configuration mode in ideographic characters.Each configuration mode can be subdivided into different types from the perspective that whether components can form character.The conformation model of ideographic characters can be divided into verbassociative model and noun associative model.Verb associative model includes 76 ideographic characters.Noun associative model is the main constitutive model,including293 ideographic characters.Noun associative model can also be divided into descriptive type,coordinate type,superposition type and emphatic type.There are 76 ideographic characters of descriptive type,60 ideographic characters of coordinate type,12 ideographic characters of superposition type and 6 ideographic characters of emphatic type.
