A Visual Image Analysis Of Poets In Modern Newspapers And Magazines(1917-1937)

The new poem that is closely connected with the mass media since its birth.The participation of the poet's images are inseparable for the process of communication and acceptance of it.The first two decades of the new poetry(1917-1937)was an important period for the emergence and development of new poetry.It was also the era when newspapers and magazines came out.At that time,the images of poets presented in newspapers and magazines participated in the process of dissemination and acceptance of new poems.Therefore,this paper intends to take the visual images of the poets in the newspapers and magazines in the first two decades of the new poems as the research object,exploring the characteristics of the poets' visual images at that time,discovering the traces of the poet's self-conscious depiction and the image echo between the poets at that time and now.The case of poet's visual image discussed in this article will be presented in three different image forms.The first chapter selects the photographs of poets during the period from 1917 to 1937,including male poets,female poets and foreign poets.Firstly,the male poet's image is changed from the ancient scholars to the modern intellectuals,while their characteristic is diluted,the self-conscious construction of their image is gradually formed.Secondly,although modern female poets lead the fashion trends of the 1920 s and 1930 s,but their image is worthy of being played because of the complexity of the identity of classical female poets and the“visualized” attributes of women in the patriarchal society.At last,the image of foreign poets is on the stage of mass media for the first time,for the reasons it is a hot spot for newspaper editors to compete for eyeballs,and for the need for translation works.The second chapter explores the movie image of the poet in 1917-1937,focusing on the film "The Cape Poet" produced by Shanghai Min xin Film Company in 1927.While discussing the image of the poet in this film,comparing the image of typical intellectuals in the film at the same time,and trying to explore their echo for the poet image and the situation of that times.At the same time,with the participation of the translated poet's image,distinct "wandering" status became an important elementdistinguishing Chinese and foreign poets,implying to some extent the marginalization tendency of the new poetry,and forms a subtle echo with the image of contemporary poets after the 1990 s.The third chapter focus on the comic image of the poet from 1917-1937.it shows the impression of the poet's intellectual group through another perspective.These comic images have been appropriately exaggerated and distorted on the basis of highlighting the poet's facial features.At the same time,the painter's depiction of the poet's expression,the treatment of the lines and the setting of the background,including the introduction of the editor's text,are concealed between people at that time with the poet's impression and acceptance.The "New Poetry Artificial Image" series of the Guang hua Middle School Bimonthly has also inadvertently opened the history of poets images.
