Vocabulary is the building material of language.Vocabulary learning is an important but difficult part of second language learning.Traditional vocabulary teaching methods are dull and boring.Students are not interested in learning words.What's more,vocabulary learning is inefficient.Flipped classroom,based on the development of information technology,has become a teaching method to cultivate students' autonomy.From the perspective of the theories of autonomous learning and cooperative learning,this study aims to explore the application of the flipped classroom model in English vocabulary teaching of junior high schools,and try to find a teaching method to help students learn English vocabulary effectively.There are three research questions in this study.Firstly,can the flipped classroom teaching mode improve students' efficiency of vocabulary learning?Secondly,can the flipped classroom teaching mode cultivate students' vocabulary learning strategies?Thirdly,on the premise of improving vocabulary learning efficiency,can the flipped classroom teaching mode cultivate students' intercultural communicative competence?This study adopts experimental method and questionnaire method.The research tools include vocabulary test paper,vocabulary strategy questionnaire,interview.The research subjects of this paper are two parallel classes of grade 2 of a junior high school in Liaocheng,Shandong Province(Class 7 and Class 8).There are totally 71 students.Class 7 is the experimental group,using the flipped classroom teaching mode to teach words.Class 8 is the control group,using the traditional teaching method to teach words.The English materials of the two classes are compulsory education textbooks(Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press),eighth grade(second semester).The results of this study are as follows: firstly,compared with traditional teaching methods,the flipped classroom teaching mode can improve students' vocabulary learning efficiency and score;secondly,the flipped classroom teaching mode can cultivate students' vocabulary learning strategies,such as,word guessing strategy and association strategy;thirdly,with the improvement of vocabulary learning efficiency,the flipped classroom teaching mode can cultivate students' intercultural communicative competence.At the same time,this study has drawn some enlightenment.First,the application of the flipped classroom model in vocabulary teaching has realized the unity of theory and practice.Meanwhile,as a new teaching method,it has injected fresh blood into vocabulary teaching.Second,teachers should establish the concept of "lifelong learning" and constantly adjust their own teaching methods and strategies.Moreover,using the flipped classroom teaching model,teachers should do enough job of pre-class preparation.Third,students should realize that there are ways of vocabulary learning and English vocabulary learning can also become vivid and interested.Students have to pay attention to their own perception,participation and experience in order to become the master of sturdy.
