| In the history of Modern Art,the concept of integration of poetry and painting,was not only the continuation of the traditional Chinese theory,namely “the poems and paintings are the same,all of them need to have natural craftsmanship and fresh style”“There’s a painting in the poem,there’s a poem in the painting”,but also in the whirlpool of European wind and America rain because of the openness of literature and art.As an outstanding representative of many scholars,Li Shutong not only wrote the First Collection of Poetry and Li Lu’s Poetry Anthology,that made him brilliant at a young age,but also firstly advocated oil painting,western painting and modern advertising design,and introduced western art and painting ideas and factions into China.whom can be called the poetry and painting talent.He was well versed in several artistic disciplines and insisted on the integration of poetry and painting,and advocated that“ linguists are invisible pictures and the painter,the silent language”.The integration of poetry and painting in Li Shutong’s artistic works is the practice of his artistic integration concept in artistic creation.It is not only the inheritance of the traditional concept of poetry and painting,but also the connection between traditional and modern,Chinese and western literary and artistic thoughts,and the new integration of poetry and painting in the academic context of modern times.In terms of poetry,Li Shutong’s artistic works of integration of poetry and painting is mainly reflected in the painterly quality of poetry works,which embodied in three aspects.Firstly,the creation of the Ti Hua Shi,such as Poems on Lotus Leaves Painted by Chen Shizeng,Poems on Mengxian Flower Banner etc,are all poetry on painting Secondly,it is a direct link between poem and the pictorial expression,such as the poem “A country is like a picture,like the sun is setting”.Thirdly,integration of poetry and painting in artistic conception,composition and layout,which is also the most important point of poetry painting.For instance,Flowers and Farewell as in the phrase meet the picturesque scene in the expression of the phrase,Early Autumn and Spring Outing both reflect the reference ofpainting composition and organization of a painting.In terms of painting,Li Shutong’s artistic works of integration of poetry and painting focuses on the Poetic Feeling of painting,which is essentially divided into two aspects.On the one hand,painting is the visual expression poetic and subjective of poetry.For example,the theme of the traditional painting Landscape painting for Tang Qilin is not only to express the respect for the traditional painter Tang Qilin,but also to express their longing for freedom from vulgarities.On the other hand,the poetic nature of painting is achieved through association,simplicity and other forms of expression.Although Li Shutong was good at western painting,he always believed that western painting is purely technical and the final destination of painting is still the poetic expression of painting.For example,oil paintings Out of the Bath and Self-portrait respectively borrow the posture of women and the facial changes of portraits,which making people think of the publicity of human nature;Sketch works Female Image,Drawing Buddha,advertising design works British and American Tobacco Company Advertising,Chinese Printing Advertising are simple techniques to highlight the theme of creation.All in all,the integration of poetry and painting in Li Shutong’s artistic works is no longer a continuation of the ancient Chinese traditional concept of integration of poetry,painting and artistic practice,but a new practice theory of poetry and painting that integrated with modern western thoughts,theories and techniques,which can be said to be a symbol of dialogue on the integration of Chinese and western literature and art. |
