A C-E Translation Report On Myths And Legends Of The Bai(Excerpt) Based On The Principle Of "Three Beauties"

Presently,with the increasingly frequent cultural exchange with the other countries,the translation of myths and legends of China,is of significance,for preservation and heritage of Chinese culture.Myths and Legends of the Bai,is compiled by Folk Literature Office of Yunan Province,which systematically introduces myths and legends of the Bai.In this translation report,the translator takes Xu Yuanchong’s "Three Beauties"as the theoretical framework,excerpts the fourth chapter "Myths and Legends of the King of the Bai",in Myths and Legends of the Bai,as the translation task,then writes the translation report.The translator is aimed to summarize the translation strategies through case studies.The first part of the translation report is the description of the translation task,including the background and significance of the translation task and the theme and style of the source text.The second part is the translation process,concerning preparations,key points and difficulties and the control of translation quality.The third part is case studies,the translator analyzes the proper strategies,based on "Three Beauties" theory,with the translation examples.The last part is the summary,covering the translation experience,key points and difficulties and existing problems.The translation of "Myths and Legends of the King of the Bai",based on the principle of "Three Beauties","Beauty in Sense" is reproduced in image,analogy and personification;"Beauty in Sound" is reproduced in onomatopoeia and duplication;"Beauty in Form" is reproduced in antithesis,parallelism and sentence length.The translator uses literal translation,free translation,transliteration,note and other translation strategies in the translation.
