As the intercourses of economic trade and cultural communication have become more and more frequent, the imported books carry a big weight in the book market, in which the literary works for children have taken the greatest proportion. As a result, the translation of children's literature has achieved great attention. Children's literature has a profound meaning for children's development,it shows the stress on children's spiritual world. It obviously embodies the educational purpose and the main target is to have a leading function and positive role during the growing process for children. As the research object-A Gathering of Stories: Myths and Legends of Many Cultures consists of many stories, it is the typical literary work for children. The author of the original version compiled the original stories and made some alterations. As a result, the stories in the book are partly different from the original ones we perhaps once have read.Based on the translation of A Gathering of Stories: Myths and Legends of Many Cultures, the report analyzes the difficulties in the translation process and summarizes the corresponding solutions. The children's literature has distinct stylistic features. The use of words is always easy and concise, which should vividly describe the scenes and characters so as to stimulate their imagination. The works for children also carry a particular importance of education. The translation process should be target-audience-centered and the translator should focus on children. The original book is in English, but it contains myths and legends from different countries. There are many problems during the translation, such as the cultural-loaded words, names of people and areas, as well as the way to cut down the long sentences and the comprehension of them. Under the guideline of skopos theory, the author used proper methods, such as literal and free translation, annotation, addition, conversion and etc. to solve these difficulties and improve the ability during the translation process.
