The success of Hollywood Westerns has made it a unique film type and one of the most influential types in the United States.Since the Great Train robbery in 1903,under the influence of a large number of western style works,there have also been western animated films with distinctive style characteristics,such as "Rango","Spirit" and so on.These works continue the essence of western film from the expression of audio-visual language to the transmission of spiritual connotation.Due to the differences in historical background and national culture,western Chinese films have not only the design elements of Hollywood westerns,but also the cultural connotations,contradictions and conflicts between western Chinese films and American western films in terms of cultural connotation,conflicts and characters.This article carries on the research through three parts.The first part compares the development background,historical and cultural differences between Hollywood western film and Chinese western film,summarizes the reference and development of Chinese western film to Hollywood western film,and extracts the characteristics of western style from it.The second part analyzes the application of western style in Rango and King of Little Horse,including character design,scene design,lens language,background music,and the application of western style in animation film from the point of view of animation audio-visual language.And enumerates the western China animation to carry on the analysis research to its characteristic.Part three: summarize the characteristics of western China's culture and enumerate some people in the west.Art films with distinctive ethnic characteristics.Combining the second part of the research on the application of Hollywood western style in animated films,this paper provides reference significance for the application of western culture with Chinese characteristics in animated films.
